type='text'>Breaking Dawn

Breaking Dawn was released at 12am Aug 2.

This was the fist release party for me and it was definitely and interesting experience. We went to Borders and I hate to say it but I think that they did a crappy job putting the party on. I heard rumors that Barnes & Noble did a better job with the before party. Luckily for everyone that was there (Lola, Stephanie, Ruth, Riann, Andrea, Kerri, Jordan) there were plenty of people to watch and wonder "what in the world are they thinking?" Most of the people there were teenage girls with VERY high pitched voices. WOW. There was a debate that I missed but others informed me that it was a little strange in that they asked obvious questions that don't really need to be debated. An example was "Do you think that Bella is using Edward for his money?" What? I've never even heard anyone bring that up as an issue. There was a palm reader there and I went over to listen in for a minute and it was funny. She was examining the love, life and health lines. Not an exact science I would say. I looked at my hand after taking note of a few things and I realized that some of my lines don't exist. Weird. I'm sure she'd think of something though if I'd given her the chance.

The t-shirt contest was funny because there were a few different ideas going on. We received a lot of attention for ours and I'm pretty sure that we would have won had it been up to the judges and not a bunch of high pitched screaming teenage girls.

This is the front of the shirt...

Then there was a costume contest... most people were dressed up goth or they were dressed as vampires. Not actually like the kind of vampires you'd think the Cullens were but bloody sharp teethed caped monsters. I'm not sure that after reading the book they got the picture right in their heads.

All in all it was fun and the actual getting of the books was so fast that I was very impressed by Borders in that department. I think my next book release party I'm going to pre-order from Borders then go to the party at Barnes & Noble then go to Borders just before the release and pick up the book there.

He hasn't met the right girl...

I think that it depends on who is the werewolf in the situation when it comes to imprinting. It's the werewolf that seems to imprint on the other. It would be convenient though if there could be a fair number of male and female werewolves that way they could just imprint on each other and not drag humans into it.

I started reading the first book over the weekend while driving to CA and I'd forgotten how much I fell in love with Edward. It's cute how he couldn't keep himself away from Bella even though he knew getting her involved with the vampire world was a bad idea. I think I just got really mad at him when he left her and have yet to forgive him for it. I know that he came back and all but I'm just not over it yet. I think I'll probably be in love with him for the next 300 pages but no guarantees when I get to the second book and he leaves.

I think that Jasper's power does have a more physical effect on people even though it is him getting into people's head. Maybe it isn't though maybe it is all physical and not mental and that is why Bella is effected. We are talking about vampires here people so anything is possible. LOL. I would really like to see her be able to do something really cool like control people physically with her mind... you know like throw them around a little or whatever else she may need to do.
<div I do agree that Jasper's powers help physically calm Bella, but he can definitely impact all the stress and anxiety that is hindering her mental ability, as well. I wish that we knew more about the vampires before they were vampires; this would definitely give us a better idea of the similarities between the before and after.

As far as imprinting goes, Jacob could imprint on someone at any time, if he hasn't imprinted on Bella. I wish that I understood the whole imprinting concept better; will Jacob really be happy with the person that he imprints on since he is in love with Bella? Does imprinting automatically mean that the two people fall in love with each other? Edward can listen to people's thoughts :that's the mind, so it doesn't work with Bella. She obviously has the capability to block the effects of others' abilities from effecting her, although I have always been curious about the effect that Jasper has on her. The scary Italian vampires couldn't hurt her when they wanted to and Edward couldn't hear her thoughts, but Jasper was always able to calm her down when she started to get anxious. I wonder if her power has to do with self preservation and blocking anything harmful. She still seems to get into a lot of trouble that Edward and Jacob have to get her out of. I also wonder how she will be effected since she is voluntarily becoming a vampire; she has a much greater understanding of the vampire world than any of the others did when Carlisle changed them. Breaking Dawn must be a really long book because there are a lot of questions that still need to be answered.

Don't worry, the party will be well documented with photos and a blog post to follow. You will feel like you were there the whole time.

I am starting the first book tonight... discussion to follow.

I would love to come to Vegas and hang out with people that love these books as much as me. I'm thinking that since Jacob has gone off the deep end and has gone missing that they are going to need him for something, maybe something to save Bella when the big bad vampire clan from across the pond come to get her. I'm coming to my senses in that I think maybe Edward and Bella are going to be together but I need a way to fit Jacob into the plot of the new book. It seems like the vampire world and the werewolf world are going to merge. Anyway, Bella's dreams seem to come true to some degree so maybe that is going to be her power. It might be a little weird though that whenever she may need to use her power she'll have to be asleep. So maybe she'll be able to control her dreams and change the outcome of the future. Eh? Pretty creative if you ask me. Ha ha. What do you guys think her power is going to be?

I agree with Andrea's comment. I'm not so sure that she has made the decision to pick Edward, she seems so unsure of it all. Why would Jacob still be in her life if she didn't have something going on in her little head about him? She gets everything she wants from Edward, from his undivided attention to cars and other costly things to his protection... and yet there Jacob is in the back of her head all of the time. Seems a little sketchy to me. I don't know if Jacob imprinted on her, and if he hasn't does that mean that he never can? Does it have to happen right away? I don't remember that about it exactly.

Bella is a little indecisive...

Personally, I don't really care who Bella ends up with, Edward or Jacob, I just wish she would make a definite decision and stick with it. It is pretty clear that she will choose Edward and it is so frustrating that she continues to drag Jacob around. She needs to cut it off with Jacob and let him move on. Although, I'm not sure that he ever can since I think he imprinted on her... but that's just my opinion.

Opening Post

The purpose of this blog is to get excited about the new addition to the Twilight series, Breaking Dawn. The book comes out Aug 1!! One thing that I enjoy is debating about the book, the whole who's team are you on really gets people excited. So please if you would like to join in on the debate send me an email and I will add you, or just leave a comment.

I would also like to inform everyone that there is a really cool website out there where people write their own spin offs of books. Check out this spin off of Twilight... http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3177254/28/

OUR FIRST TOPIC: WHO'S TEAM ARE YOU ON?
